The Brigham
System
is the latest system and stages mesothelioma according to resectability (the
ability to surgically remove) and lymph node involvement. The different stages of this system are as
follows:
- Stage
I: In this
stage of the Brigham System, the patient has Resectable mesothelioma and there
is no lymph node involvement
- Stage
II: In this
stage of the Brigham System, the patient has Resectable mesothelioma but there
is an involvement of the lymph node
- Stage
III: In this
stage of the Brigham System, Unresectable mesothelioma extends into chest
wall, heart, or through diaphragm, peritoneum; with or without
extrathoracic lymph node involvement
- Stage IV:
In this stage of
the Brigham System, the patient is affected by a distant metastatic disease
